Sept. 19, 2012 - Thurston County Commissioner candidate, Andrew Barkis (R), spoke to the Gateway Rotary Club this morning.  This is the first of what club President Tom Carroll introduced as an opportunity for political candidates to speak to our Rotary Club.  Literally and figuratively speaking under the Rotary 4-Way Test, Barkis introduced himself and his campaign as the candidate interested in supporting Thurston County home and small business owners and correcting what he believes is the failings of the current commissioner

Sept. 19, 2012 - Thurston County Commissioner candidate, Andrew Barkis (R), spoke to the Gateway Rotary Club this morning.  This is the first of what club President Tom Carroll introduced as an opportunity for political candidates to speak to our Rotary Club.  Literally and figuratively speaking under the Rotary 4-Way Test, Barkis introduced himself and his campaign as the candidate interested in supporting Thurston County home and small business owners and correcting what he believes is the failings of the current commissioner.

Barkis' presentation is the first of what President Tom promises to be a redefinition of the South Sound Rotaries acceptance of political candidates to present to the club about their campaigns.  Each candidate will be provided the same respect due to a guest of the Club and given the opportunity to present their candidacy.  Following each presentation, each candidate will be open for a brief Q&A period.

This first trial of the 'bring a candidate to a meeting' was well received by the Club.  Other local candidates across the political spectrum have been actively invited and are being scheduled.  Check this website for more details.
