October 3, 2012 - Speaker Kerensa Mabwa leads GRuB’s community outreach, fundraising, and volunteer coordination. She is passionate about gardening, sustainable and accessible fresh food, and building relationships in the community. Kerensa discussed the importance of engaging youth in hands-on gardening projects to help them find their own passions and talents. Benefits of GRuB’s youth and school initiatives include educating PreK-12 students about where food comes from. Youth programs evolved from GRuB’s senior projects and continue to inspire intergenerational cooperation and community service. Kitchen Garden Projects help lower-income people prepare and nurture their own backyard and community gardens. Gateway Rotary expressed thanks to Kerensa and GRuB for providing opportunities to all community members to enjoy local, affordable, fresh produce.
